GO Tanzania

2012 marks the beginning of CBC’s first GO International trip to Tanzania. We will be partnering with Africa Harvest of Hope in their continued efforts in the town of Korogwe. Africa Harvest of Hope began in 2005 and has worked to share the news of Jesus Christ with a generation of orphans. Their first project that was to build to build a children’s home, which was completed in 2008 along with a small church and houses 40 children. The ministry has been blessed to receive a large parcel of land from the local government and have plans to build a hospital, two trade schools, another orphanage, and a church large enough to seat over 1, 000 people.

Some quick facts about Tanzania:

Tanzania is home to 39.4 million people. 2.5 million are orphans, ad an estimated 44% are under 15.

1.1 million estimated numbers of orphans are living with HIV/AIDS, and a further 38% are suffering from malnutrition.

Korogwe is located 60 miles west of Tanga, a port in the upper east coast of Tanzania, and has a population of 44,000.

Most people in Korogwe survive on less that one US dollar per day and survive by farming small plots of land. Due to a severe drought recently, compounded by a lack of irrigation systems or running water, the people have had to carry water from the stream and river that run through the town not only for their personal needs but also to water their crops.
